The Nile Cooperation for Results Project (NCORE) project of the NBI is a results-oriented program covering its three core functions: (i) facilitating cooperation, (ii) water resources management, and (iii) water resources development which received a support from the World Bank CIWA. As per the World Bank safeguards policies, the NBI has prepared an Environmental and Social Management Framework was prepared to in order to integrated environmental and social aspects into feasibility and pre-feasibility analysis of potential investment projects on shared water resources, promote transparency through early involvement and consultation of stakeholders and encourage consideration of technical alternatives based on possible environmental and social impacts. The project was previously called Nile Basin Climate Resilient Growth (NBCRG) Project and the ESMF was prepared referring to this name.
