NELSAP briefing to Power Africa

A meeting that brought together  US delegates that comprised of

1. Erica Barks Ruggles, U.S. Ambassador to Rwanda

2.     Andrew Herscowitz, Coordinator for Power Africa

3.     Taylor Ruggles, U.S. State Department Regional Energy Counselor for Africa

4.     Katherine Steel, Power Africa Energy Sector Lead

5.     Rudy Gharib, Power Africa Director of Communications

6.     Mike Lurie, Economic Officer, U.S. Embassy

7.     Greg Leon, Senior Private Sector Officer, U.S. Embassy

and the NELSAP Senior Management.

A brief presentation about NELSAP mandate and various interventions in Power sector has been shared for Power Africa team to have a general understanding of the ongoing projects and the registered achievements in the region in the Power sector.Power Africa expressed the willingness to support in the following areas once the Memorandum Of Undersatnding is signed by both parties.

Partnership with Power Africa and envisaged benefits of the Technical adviser

    1. Facilitating and strengthening NELSAP to deliver on its mandate and improve on effectiveness
    2. Provide technical support and advise on the project development priorities
    3. Supporting NELSAP in its efforts to secure funding from development partners with special emphasis on the NELSAP Priority Projects
    4. Technical advice and support on resolving implementation bottlenecks ( contracts, technical etc)
    5. Power Africa could facilitate the planned PTC, PSC and Minister Meeting in 9-10 June 2016

A vote of thanks by the Regional Coordinator extended to the team for having such strategic partnership which will be sealed by signed MOU.
