NELSAP – CU embarks on an exercise to disseminate outputs of its projects
The Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action Program Coordination Unit (NELSAP-CU) has embarked on an exercise to disseminate to stakeholders in the Nile Equatorial Lakes sub-basin outputs of its twelve projects under the two programs namely water resources management and power respectively. The primary objective of the dissemination exercise is to enhance awareness of the NELSAP, showcase the outputs so far and market the results to the countries thereby enhancing collaboration the various stakeholders.
The dissemination exercise kicked off with a highly successful workshop in Kenya, Kisumu from18th to 19th November, 2013 with more than 80 participants attending the two-day workshop. This will be followed by more national level workshops in December 2013 as follows: Tanzania from 2nd to 3rd; Uganda from 5th to 6th; Burundi from 9th to 10th; Rwanda from 12th to 13th, and South Sudan from 19th to 20th. December 2013.
The workshops are targeting various stakeholder groups including policy level sector players from Agriculture, Water, Irrigation, Environment, Energy, Lands, Finance, Economic Planning, and Foreign Affairs. Others are County Government/Local and Regional Administration, Social/Community Development and Gender, Watershed Rehabilitation/Management, Water Resources Management, Water Resources Development and Power Utilities.
It is anticipated that the dissemination exercise will enhance knowledge of the value of the NELSAP Program to the countries, improve understanding of the niche that NELSAP has in regional water resources development, strengthen collaboration between NELSAP and relevant stakeholders as well as improve NELSAP- CU’s corporate image in the countries.
